RapidForm software is used to process 3D scan data into usable 3D CAD or inspection data. Rapidform can create both surface and solid model data and output this informaiton into many formats like STEP, IGES, ParaSolid, VDA and many others. In addition, RapidForm has a "Live Transfer" to SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER and Siemens PLM CAD software. This allows the model to contain a history tree and parametrics which is much more editable than a neutral file format.
