Looking Back and Ahead

Reflecting on 2010

2010 isn’t quite over yet but I had some free time today to reflect on the year behind us and think about 2011.   Overall 2010 was a very good year for EMS.  We had record sales and profits surpassing all of our goals and expectations for the year.

Highlights include:

We brought in some industry veterans to our staff in our Michigan office where the company had started in 2001 and relocated the corporate office to Tampa in 2004.  Things are slowly getting better in that state after being hard hit over the past 3 years.  Sales of SolidWorks & The CAD Academy products in Michigan to the educational community were our best ever.  We also sold some Z Corp 3D Printers to some key accounts we had been working for some time.  In addition, our Michigan office is doing a lot more service work for both 3D scanning and rapid prototyping and we plan on further expanding those services next year.  We now have a Konica-Minolta Vivid 9i and Range 7 in use in that office along with our RapidForm 3D Scanning software.

Our Georgia office also saw great growth especially in the military and defense industry.  We sold numerous Z Corp 3D printer and 3D scanner bundle deals this year to some key military bases and other accounts.  We also completed some major 3D scanning and rapid prototyping projects especially with our Surphaser long range 3D scanner.

Our Tampa office also saw great growth.  We hired a new marketing manager and 2 new engineers to keep up with demand.  We are literally bursting at the seams in our Tampa office and are looking at relocating to a larger facility to meet the growing demand.

So what about 2011?  EMS feels things will continue to grow and at a steady rate in 2011 and we are well positioned to take advantage of this.  EMS has always operated as a cost conscious company.  We spend money on good technology and people but keep a close eye on expenses and other non essential items.  We also try and calculate our risks carefully.  We recently launched a new web site and will be introducing some new and exciting products and services in 2011 so stay tuned.

Thanks to 2010

I want to thank all of our customers for their business in 2010 and to all our team members who make all the digital magic happen day in and day out.  Without you there wouldn’t be an EMS.

Happy Holidays and looking forward to a great New Year in 2011.

EMS.
